Scout And Guide Graduate Association

Our Activities

SAGGA groups choose their own programme, with activities ranging from walking, sailing and camping to craft, theatre trips and visits to places of interest. Some activities happen each year, for instance the completion of JAD’s Quiz and go-karting, while others happen only once.

National activities include summer camp, boating weekend and sessions to discuss topical issues or create resources for Scouting and Guiding. Summer camp is usually held in the UK, but also has been at Scout/Guide sites in Norway, the Netherlands, Germany and Ireland. Days are spent exploring the local area and carrying out practical work at the campsite.

SAGGA members have a diverse range of skills and everyone is encouraged to muck in, whatever their experience.

Service

SAGGA offers service and support to Scouting and Guiding. Some members are active leaders; others bring their skills and experience to SAGGA projects and assist with local events and activities. Recently members have planned and run patrol leader training, activity check points and GaSCiT (a camp for training Scouts, Guides and their leaders).

SAGGA gives service in practical ways, carrying out projects like refurbishing buildings, repainting groups' halls and ground clearance. We have enjoyed work on over 50 campsites at home and abroad. Each year about half of the days at the main summer camp are spent on such service work.

Friendship

SAGGA’s members meet in a variety of groups: national, regional, old friends, special interests, even families! We are a diverse association with a common belief in quality Scouting and Guiding.

Recent graduates are encouraged to join, but a degree is not a requirement! (SAGGA was first formed by a group of university graduates wanting to continue their student Scouting – hence the “Graduate” in SAGGA).

As SAGGA has been active for over forty-five years we have members of all ages. Lively discussion and laughter accompany all SAGGA activities and newcomers are always welcome at any event.

SAGGA has developed many overseas links, and has members who live or work abroad.
